Female Artists and Anthropologists: An Afternoon at the Orlando Library

ORLANDO, Fla. (April 20th, 2013) The talents of local women were on display this past Saturday at the Orlando Public Library, located in Downtown Orlando, as guests were able to view the works of local female artists while also meeting anthropologist Dr. Rachel Wentz, a former Orlando Firefighter and current speaker on the importance of fire in the history of Florida.

Women in the Arts INC was responsible for gathering the collection of art from various female artists and various artistic genres.  The works have been on display since March, which is also Women’s History Month, with the exhibit closing later this month with an in person gathering of the displayed artists.

Dr. Wentz, representing Florida Historical Society presented the history of fire in the state of Florida, as well as the nation as a whole. As a former firefighter and paramedic, Dr. Wentz offered a unique perspective on the subject- along with insight on being a female in male-centric fields.
